According to the Nielsen Norman Group, a leading authority on User Experience (UX), the UX profession is expected to grow from about 1 million professionals estimated in in 2017 to 100 million professionals active in the field by 2050. This is indicative of how the ever increasing importance of User-, Service-, and Customer Experience in an ever-more-digital world with constantly increasing experience expectations cannot be understated. The way a product or service is experienced by users and customers can be the difference between businesses and start-ups enjoying lasting success at scale and just thudding along. Experience is at the centre of driving technology acceptance and is essential to building and sustaining customer loyalty.

Any business that’s focused on digital products and services, provides digital channels, has their workforce use technology and digital platforms to deliver their services or engages in e-commerce, this should be every business, needs to provide their employees and customers with optimised and seamless experiences. User Experience is something that we’ve come to expect and assume, but what does it take to get user experience right and why should we be thinking of it as more than just slick interfaces?

This is the backdrop to why I am exited to get into conversation with Carrie Yury, the Managing Director responsible for User Experience (UX) Research, Digital Products and Channels at JPMorgan Chase, this Thursday (19:00 PM SAST | 18:00 PM CET | 13:00 PM EDT). The title of this Leadership Conversation is, Leading User Experience: Invention and Innovation in User Experience & Design.

I had the opportunity to work with Carrie when she invited me to join an innovation team she was leading for one the world’s most impactful foundations as Digital and Technology Innovation Subject Matter Advisor. Aside from the joy of the work, I was fascinated by both the passion and high-precision methodology and structure that Carrie and team brought to the creative process. It was more than I had seen before (which is saying a lot for someone who has structured work using methodologies all her working life). Together with foundation team members, we innovated and developed initiatives which later saw global implementation. As such, I am excited to bring you this conversation with an experience leader with global impact and an international design print. Read more about Carrie and register for the conversation below.

One of the most powerful forces of nature, one that is innate to us, is belief. It doesn’t quite matter if it’s belief in a higher power, belief about the possibilities before us or belief in ourselves - our beliefs shape every thought, every decision and every action. Belief, can help us access our most rewarding life or sink us into the depths of despair.

Identify the form belief takes in your life, examine it, understand it, learn to wield it and shape your future with it - Does what you believe, especially about yourself, serve you?
